Hi there! My name is Esther and I am so excited to be featured on Darling My Dearest for Foodie Friday! :^) I recently started an Instagram foodie account @mashiseoyoung which is a play on my Korean name and what literally means “it’s delicious” – ! I wanted a platform where I can express not only my love & passion for food, but also to support small businesses during these trying times. I had to say goodbye to so many of my favorite local shops already, and I wanted to do what I could to get the word out about all the amazing mom and pop shops in our city! Below are my top 3 local sweet treats in Los Angeles, ranging from handcrafted macarons to my favorite cookie shop in the world ~ Happy reading and hope you enjoy!

✦ It’s so rare to find a gem like this cafe in LA, where there is so much optimal outdoor seating 𝒶𝓃𝒹 parking ! ღ

✦ Friendly staff and sanitized frequently, MCO is my new go-to coffee / chill spot in Koreatown ~ 

» 𝚖𝚊𝚜𝚑𝚒 𝚛𝚎𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚜 : 

☕️ : 𝕔𝕠𝕙𝕖𝕟 𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕥𝕖

         ╰ Latte + oat milk + earl grey syrup = perfect combo iced or hot ! Fresh, creamy & smooth taste. 

🍵 : 𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕨𝕓𝕖𝕣𝕣𝕪 𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕒 𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕥𝕖

         ╰ I don’t say this often – but it’s quite comparable to Boba Guys’ strawberry matcha ! Something that can be enjoyed all throughout the LA “seasons” ~

         ╰ A dense dessert but it paired perfectly with the latte and coffee we got! I can’t wait to try more of their baked goods.

⤑ They have plenty of seating but it can still get pretty packed! Try to go early or on non-peak days to avoid crowds (and to keep social distancing)

✦ Maca<look> is a macaron bakery started by two former fashion designers who intend for a macaron ғᴀsʜɪᴏɴ sʜᴏᴡ ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇᴘᴛ ＋。゜。＋

✦ The most unique macarons I’ve ever encountered (◕ㅅ◕✿) Plus, I can taste the 정성, which roughly translates to “𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 & 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵 “

✦ They use 100% almond flour and even make all their jams & spreads including blueberry, hot cheetos (!) and injeolmi flavor – 𝙨𝙤 many cool flavors.

» 𝚖𝚊𝚜𝚑𝚒 𝚛𝚎𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚜 :

         ╰ For october, they are putting together a halloween collection – filled with 𝖒𝖚𝖒𝖒𝖎𝖊𝖘, 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘴, and even 🅝🅞-🅕🅐🅒🅔 from Spirited Away 

         ╰ Flavors include : barley grass chocolate, blueberry, garlic bread (!), salted caramel & oreo

         ╰ Please do yourself a favor and check this out.. you will be mesmerized by the way they take inspiration from past fashion collections and create macaron art. You can find this on their Instagram page!

⤑ Flavors and collections change every 𝓉𝓌𝑜 weeks so make sure to check out their Menu highlights ! 

⤑ You can store them for up to 3 days in the fridge and 2 weeks in the freezer; it’s going to be hard but try to give a couple minutes before eating (。・・)_且

✦ There are only a handful of places that bring me as much excitement & joy as milk jar cookies 🍪🥛 – thick and soft, but slightly under-baked to bring you the best chewy cookies possible.

✦ Warm ambiance with rustic decor topped with smells of freshly baked cookies ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ – what more can one ask for?

         ╰ The classic, most-loved ooey-gooey cookie !

         ╰ My favorite seasonal cookie 🥣 – lots of texture and tastes more ‘chewy’ than their other classics

         ╰ If you know me, you’ll know that i’m (sadly) not a big coffee person. But their cold brew is so divine and pairs beautifully with all their cookies! That’s a lot coming from a non-coffee drinker like myself.

⤑ You can ask them to warm up your cookies if you’d like ~

⤑ No parking lot, but I usually get pretty lucky on the side block by the UPS store 📪 or by the store front.
